DIGITALCHEMY | GAME DESIGN + THEORY BLOG

After backlogging several projects from the past three and a half years, I’ve decided to make a blog and explore developing disciplines, how they continue to evolve, and ways I’ve found to solve current problems in my work. While I find interest in a variety of the issues concerning the gaming community, I hope to tie things up by bringing relevance to the development and/or art of modern game designs from a student perspective.

THE ESCAPE ROUTE, THE MODCAST | COLLABORATIVE GAME DESIGN BLOG + PODCAST

The Escape Route is a blog that follows the practices of art, design, and theory behind computer games from a student perspective. The writings found here often regard level design, and since July 2009 we have started publishing a monthly/bi-monthly podcast,The Modcast, which ties most of those ideas together. We hope you find something of interest as we log our last year leaving education, to profession.

Our team: Matthew Barton, Cory Hughart, Andrew Kuhar, & Jim Wiser. While each of us has a different interest in the disciplines of game design, as a group we practice, research, and discuss the games culture and industry on a regular basis as both artists & friends. All of us are currently enrolled in the TIME – Digital Arts major at the Cleveland Institute of Art, and in our final year.
